Never Doubt a Girl with a Dream
If you found your way here, I'm guessing you already know what this is all about; if not, I would love to let you know!
My name is Becca. I'm a BYU student from Washington State. And, for fall 2017, I will be living in London. Yes, I'm still going to be going to school; yes, I'm still a red-blooded American (if you were worried!); yes, I am incredibly excited.
For those of you who knew me growing up, you might remember all the times I said I would live in London when I was older. For those of you who didn't know me, I'll clue you in: growing up, I always said that someday I would find myself living across the pond in London, England.
And for those of you who knew me and didn't believe me: never doubt a girl with a dream.
If you're shocked and asking "how did this happen????", you're (probably) not alone. I think it's no secret that my family is full of little adventurers and we love our trips around the globe (this will actually be my first time out of the country, granted, but I already know I'll love it). So, as I sat around staring at my laptop one day back in fall 2016 semester, I asked my then-roommate: "Have you ever thought about doing a study abroad?" And thus this journey began.
At first, it was just on a whim; a lot of things in my life were completely up in the air and I had literally no plan for my future. A couple of dreams and events I had planned for that time in my life were no longer in the picture and I realized that if I wanted anything to happen, I needed to go out and make it happen.
I was perusing BYU's many study abroad options, focusing on Germany or something else German-speaking (I've taken 4 years of German and in my head I always thought that's where I would end up someday for schooling) when I stumbled across the Fall 2017 Legendary London Centre (yes, they actually spell "center" that way. I was baffled as well) Study Abroad. As I cringed at the price tag attached, a little worm of an idea began to wiggle through my head.
Why not London?
And so, ladies and gentlemen, I sit here at my laptop and excitedly type out these words:
I am going to London!!!!!!
I actually found out in January, I think, and I've kind of been keeping it under wraps until then. A couple friends and my family knew, but that was about it (I'm big on that whole girl-with-a-secret persona).
Now that my departure date is about 5 months away, I figured it was time to let everybody know.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, I would love to hear them! And, in advance, thanks for the support and love and prayers from everyone. ;)
